2010 Tacoma - Flatbed Utility Deck - 2020
Designed and built specifically for transporting oversized and heavy items that don’t otherwise fit in the bed, like the 800lb 6’ x 6.5’ CNC plasma table shown in the lower right. This was purpose-built to haul the plasma table back to the shop and has since come in handy a number of times transporting other oversize items.
It mounts to the factory bed tie-down rails with the same hardware as aftermarket camper shells or lumber racks. 10 heavy-duty D-rings line the perimeter of the bed to simplify rigging while leaving a flat, unobstructed deck for easy loading. Since these photos, as a preventative measure, a headache screen has been added to the rack in front to prevent any accidental damage to the rear window of the cab.
2002 Tacoma - Tradesman Camper Shell Build 2016
This Tradesman camper shell for a Ford Ranger was adapted to fit a Toyota Tacoma and then outfitted with a simple modular interior to be just as functional camping on the beach in Mexico as it is serving as a daily driver here in Santa Cruz.
A pair of stainless steel mast steps allow access to the platform on the custom designed aluminum roof rack. The rack supports the ARB awning and 200W of recessed solar panels allowing use as a lumber rack for transporting building materials. The solar power feeds a 125Ah AGM battery via an MPPT charge controller. This provides power for a 120V 600W sine wave inverter, a 45L Engel 12v fridge/freezer, as well as LED lights and 12V/USB outlets.
The exterior of the truck was upgraded with an ARB bumper, holding a 9.5k lb synthetic winch and two 100W LED lights. Trail gear rock sliders and bud built steel skid plates keep the underbelly protected. To improve handling with the extra weight Old Man Emu suspension was installed on all four corners.
